This week it’s David McConkey’s turn – Exquisite Wedding Flowers by David McConkey & The Brides Butler Wedding Planner Service
Tell us a little about yourself & your business…
I have been in the wedding business for almost 30 years, specializing in wedding floristry providing a very personal service to my clients, five years ago “The Brides Butler” my wedding planner service was launched helping brides & grooms plan their amazing day. I don’t have a lot of spare time as I spend most of my time in my studio but apart from doing some gardening work, I have two amazing Schnauzer dogs and they take up any of my spare time.
What are your top 3 FAQ’s?
1. How soon in advance do I need to organize my wedding flowers?
I would advice between 6/12 months, however I have clients who book at least 18/24 months in advance, Fridays and Saturdays are always very popular so it’s good to book well in advance.
2. I have 200 guests how big a wedding cake do I need ?
Well you will need at least 5 tiers and I would suggest you bottom base is at least 12/14 inches. There are so many options now available from a traditional fruit cake to various flavors like chocolate, vanilla , walnut, raspberry & white chocolate and many more.
3. If I’m having a church wedding must I wear a veil?
Not at all some brides want to be traditional and wear the veil, but a bride will look amazing whether she wears a veil or not.
Are there any trends that couples should be paying attention to for 2017?
The larger wedding bouquets are coming back into fashion, hand tied bouquets will always be a very popular choice but if a bride is wearing a simpler dress the fuller bouquet will always look amazing. A very popular cake this year has been the naked cake, these can look amazing if they are dressed with fruit & flowers.
Any general advice for brides and grooms to be?
My advice is simple , book your suppliers well in advance , don’t always book the cheapest option available , and if you want a stress free wedding book “The Brides Butler”.
